The RyPN Classifieds are intended for posting advertisements for events, services, goods, employment, etc., not for use as a discussion forum. It is acceptable to post serious questions to a specific ad, but not to otherwise make comments, praiseworthy or derogatory, about ads. If you wish to make a comment about a specific ad please post it on the Interchange.

You do not have to be registered to view and read the RyPN Classifieds, but you must be registered to post ads. Every person who was registered on the RyPN Interchange as of March 31, 2006 is also registered in the Classifieds user database.  Persons who haven't registered for the Interchange, or who registered after March 31, 2006 will have to register on the Classifieds in order to post ads. There will be no effort made to synchronize the Interchange and Classifieds user databases past March 31, 2006.

Anybody may post an ad on the RyPN Classifieds, including individuals, organizations, groups, businesses, for profit, not for profit, etc., provided the content of the ad is material appropriate to railway history, railway preservation, and/or operating of railway equipment. The appropriateness of content for specific ads will be determined by the moderators whose authority is absolute, and whose decisions are final.

The following categories are suggested for use in posting advertisements:

Announcements - Lost, found, stolen, equipment being de-accessioned, restoration projects, fund raising efforts, solicitation of bids for projects, legal announcements, etc.

Employment - Jobs or employment offered & jobs or employment wanted

Events - Excursions, auctions, festivals, train shows, photo specials, conventions, displays, Thomas the Tank engine, volunteer work sessions, etc.

Merchandise - For sale, for trade, for rent, for lease, available for free, items sought for purchase, for trade or for rent or lease, professional services offered, services sought, etc.

Ads should began with titles that make the intent of the ad clear, i.e. Lost, Found, Stolen, Job or Employment Opportunity, Train Show, Thomas Event, For Sale, Wanted to Buy, etc.

Ads must contain suitable contact information such as email addresses, phone numbers, links to websites, etc.  Please try and be responsive to all contact media including email and personal messages posted within the RyPN Classifieds. Ads which do not contain contact information, or for which the contact information is inaccurate or inactive, or for which there is persistent difficulty in contacting the poster will be deleted.

Ads seeking donation of funds for any purpose must be posted by a person, or persons, in a position of authority, such as a board member, or paid employee, executive director, etc., of the group, organization and/or business in question.

Profanity is strictly forbidden and will not be tolerated.

There is no set time limit for an ad to expire. We ask posters to please delete postings/ads that have served their purpose. All registered users have the ability to delete their ads if the ad does not have any questions posted to it. This may be done by simply logging in, going to the ad, and using the delete button in the upper right hand corner of the posting. If your ad has served its purpose but has questions posted to it, or you can't delete it for any reason, please refer it to the moderators.

The moderators may, at their discretion, delete any ads for any reason that violates the guidelines above, or if an ad is deemed inappropriate for any reason.

RyPN will make every reasonable effort to delete obviously misleading or factual incorrect advertisements, but RyPN is not responsible for the accuracy of postings in the RyPN Classifieds.

RyPN is NOT involved in any part of the transaction. By posting an ad or responding to a posted ad, the user recognizes this fact and releases RyPN from any responsibility for the transaction.

RyPN does not verify the identity of the buyer or seller. As such the buyer and seller are encouraged to contact each other and verify the identity of the other person. If you are unable to do this you are advised to use a 3rd party escrow service to guarantee the safety of the transaction.

In the unfortunate event that a transaction should become problematic, RyPN will not become involved in the remedy. Issues will need to be settled through other channels by the parties involved.
