Really a follow-up the the Fillmore & Western thread(s), but at some point we need to change the name....

Quote:
Following on the heels of a successful freight photo train April 22, Sierra Northern Railway’s Ventura Division operated a second train, this time with seven streamlined passenger cars between Fillmore and Santa Paula, on Thursday, May 5. The train was stopped numerous times for the railroad’s company photographer. The train was significant for the onboard crew to continue to familiarize themselves with train handling on many newly refurbished sections of the right-of-way. Sierra Northern Railway leases the line, which is owned by the Ventura County Transportation Commission.

They have already left Fillmore for another city on the line, Santa Paula, after a disagreement with Fillmore city government, in an attempt to clarify the use of city owned properties in the contract. https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews ... nta-paula/

Especially puzzling, the city was apparently surprised that the railroad would not agree in writing to abstain from anything that could possibly "bother the neighbors": “One item of concern was Sierra Northern Railway removing language saying that their use of the properties cannot bother the neighbors.” https://www.fillmoreca.com/home/showpub ... 3539530000 Not hard to see why Fillmore & Western eventually threw in the towel.

I volunteered on the F&W for many years. What they have said is nonsense. They built some low rent housing next to the tracks, then complain about the noise.
This is akin in many cases to people buying a house near an airport then complaining about the noise the planes make.
