A local university has posted quick time movies of interviews with Don Cogdell, last superintendant of the Savannah facilities of the Southern (nee C of G)on their site.
These can be found at
http://www.sip.armstrong.edu/Cogdell/IntroCog.html
For some reason, I get the error message "unable to download appropriate decompressor" when trying to view them, maybe some one has a solution.
The interviews cover various subjects related to RR's in Ga. and the C CoG/Southern in particular.
The gentleman in question is my boss's father, to explain the email address.....

You can meet him in person if you attend the big event at the Savannah roundhouse Nov. 4 and 5.
Rudd will be demonstrating frustrating obsolete machine tools also, and an assortment of family entertainment with a RR theme is planned.
Thomas will not be there, but GOAT the Tank Engine will. GOAT has no smiley face and is authentically dirty, clanky, and wheezing as a good industrial engine should be.
Dave
Hearing protection will be advised during demonstrations of the portable crankpin lathe. The machine doesn't really make that much noise, but the operator does at times!
But seriously, if anyone figures out how to view the quick time movies, please email me the solution....seems the modern machines can be just as frustrating and cranky as the old stuff, but much less tolerant of adjustments with a hand sledge.
