I find this project amazing, going back to the time when the engine was still in the creek. It's something that drags out and drags out and you wonder if it will ever get anywhere. I came across this, and it maybe should be the theme for steam projects. . . Yes, #7 is saturated. Also known as a soak or slobber stack. It is the oldest American built Mallet in existence. |

It's what country should really sound like, in my opinion. And so much of it fits with trains, especially Appalachian coal roads. Paul Woodring, who posts here, happens to have this on YouTube. And who in Blue Grass doesn't love Allison Krauss and Union Station? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3y1qpW ... e=youtu.be Oh, and great minds think alike. I'd heard Choctaw Hayride before (second part of the video), and thought how it would seem so appropriate as a soundtrack for a big, fast articulated in West Virginia. . .pacing along on the straights, hinging around curves, double sets of polished steel rods flashing. . .now if only this could be in video or motion picture film, and with a nice long freight train to pull. . . |
