To this list I can add a US-built Polish 2-8-0 preserved in England.
There is considerable US technology at work overseas, such as the Budd-style stainless-steel transit equipment welded together by SOREFAME in Portugal. There are 4/5th-scale replicas of Commonwealth 2-axle trucks under some British passenger coaches and baggage cars, accurate down to the General Steel Castings trademark. Also what the British call "Buckeye" couplers, which the Brits run swimming in oil, which made my flesh crawl.
My personal fantasy: to repatriate a French 141-R, either with or without the high-performance modifications now being conducted by Sulzer.
Aarne Frobom
Michigan State Trust for Railway Preservation, Inc.
