Well, not completly on topic but, i'm heading down to Altoona/EBT/RHTM and the museum at North East PA on teh weekend. Can anyone out there give me some lodging info for East Broad Top. Altoona should be easy, find a motel, get a room, done. Any help would be appreciated.

I usually stay at the Day's Inn in Huntingdon PA, which sits between Altoona and the EBT. Chris Coleman's website has a fairly comprehensive list of lodging in the area around EBT. See the line below. http://www.spikesys.com/EBT/tourism.html#lodging

If this is your visit to the area here are a couple of tips:Leave time to explore the whole EBT right of way. There is a lot to see. It is fun to picture a Mike, 22 hoppers and a combine rolling along. It is pretty easy to follow most of the main by road. The railroad park in Tyrone is nearby and not a bad place to spend some time relaxing. The double track main goes past the park.Feel free to email directly if you want some details.Have fun!-Alan S. Levy

HI,Does anyone know if the fireless cooker is running in North East Pa.? I was told last year they could not run until they got some paperwork completed on the engine. Well, I would very much like to see it run, so if anybody could get me the latest news on the engine that would be great and if it is running a schedule of when would be even better! Also, I saw that they put in a large scale train, what do they use for pwer on those trains, is it live steam or something else? What does that run? Thanks,Matt
