Railpace has a paragraph on this car in the new issue. Says it is ex NYC and is going to the Old Colony museum.

This one is not a McDonalds, but the most appropiate use of an old rail car is the "dining car" at the Red Caboose Motel in Strasburg PA, it is simply a PRR commuter coach with the inside nicely fixed up with chandeliers and table clothes on the tables.

Our here in California, the "Cordelia Junction" on I-80 in Fairfield has a couple of box cars and a coach fitted into the side of the building. That is minus half of each car. The current Italian restaurant in there does not use a railroad theme in any of the cars.

I don't think this is preservation.

One thing to keep in mind when reporting on cabooses used as party rooms at restaurants, etc, is that often they are gutted to make the kind of open space needed for that purpose. A cupola caboose usually has lockers and storage areas under the cupola, making it a hard to use area, often to the surprise of its new owners. They then cut all these interior subdivisions away so they can put a table in the center and allow for circulation space around it. The benches at the ends, with their storage space under them, also get removed in many cases. Some places even cut big openings into the side or end for ADA access reasons. So in reporting about these please let us know if the interior is intact if this is known, and say so if you don't know about its condition.

Thread update.
The original coach that started this thread is not going to the (now closing) Old Colony and Fall River Railroad Museum and may be available for preservation.

Inside the 1906 C&S Pullman in Nederland CO this morning, along with a caboose and UPD&G 1872 baggage car, a truly delightful conversion and re use as a coffee shop and Lounge. If Car 57 and my cabooses could find a similar use i would be delighted .

Out here in Arizona, we do have two preserved streetcar bodies that were built into residential structures-ie. the larger house structure was built around the streetcar bodies on all sides. One is located in the Phoenix metropolitan area and the other is located here in Tucson. Old Pueblo Trolley is looking to acquire both bodies once the properties are sold by the current owners-one house is in condemnable condition but the streetcar body is believed to be in reasonable condition. The other is located in a government project area and subject to removal in the future.

There was an antique store and restaurant called the Yankee Silversmith Inn at Wallingford, Connecticut for almost 50 years. They had a fire; but the Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum at Willimantic, CT thought there was enough left to truck the Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad wooden coach to their museum.

Closer to me in Fairfield California is a defunct restaurant that has a passenger car and two box cars. These are the usual restaurant cars with one whole side cut out. The present owners of the establishment do not know anything about the equipment. My guess is that they were Southern Pacific equipent. They are still on trucks.

what about Andy's Diner in Seattle; they had a couple of Oregon Electric Interurbans until recent years. I think the place is now a Chinese restaurant.

My grandparents and now parents live near Nederland, and I lived there for a year while a student, during which time I worked at the hardware store (now Nederland library) 50 feet from the car. At that time, 1992-3, the "business" using those cars was called "Earthlings for a Future" whatever that means, some sort of environmental group, if you are familiar with the area you will know many of the locals are a bit off. I was last in the car in the 70s, it had a museum of sorts selling railroad stuff, I bought some DNW&P train orders (which sadly have been lost).
