Post subject: Critter Control

Our museum which is located in a fairly rural area (and also borders a large forest preseve) is plagued by "critters".
The biggest problem is raccoons. Due to local laws, we can't trap or posion them. Any ideas of how to dissuade the varmints ?
We have two South Shore Line coaches in particular that they seem to really like, they haul themselves up the canvas diaphragms and then burrow their way into the roof of the cars.
We've tried a number of ideas including mothballs and loud radios to scare them away. My main concern is to not only get rid of them from these cars, but prevent them from moving to other cars in our collection as well.
Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated.
John Cloos/Car Dept Superintendent/Fox River Trolley Museum
