Does anyone know the whereabouts of the former ALCO #3-which was sold when the company left the new locomotive business ?

In Bellevue, Ohio, at the Mad River & NKP Museum. It was sold to US DOT as a test car after Alco died, and then was donated to MR&NKP. It was originally an NKP car.

The Southern Pacific car is at California State RR Museum. The website for the Museum says:

The car that replaced the 137; Research and Tests Car 252; built out of former CZ 10-6 Silver Canyon is in private hands and stored in Salinas, CA.

It does not have traditional hydraulics, but it has a special solid shank strain recording coupler and full MU capability with a locomotive. And a couple of locomoitve cab windows at the "A" end.

That makes me want to ask an other question. The SP had assigned a 4-4-2 sleeping car to operate with its dynometer car and numbered it 138. What happened to it?

My notes show the car was plan 4069H (Waukesha generator and ice engine) and originally #211, later GOLDEN MISSION, then SP 9110. I remember seeing the two together in the 1970s.
