I, too, am interested in steam locomotive preservation and operation. I'm currently not involved with any societies or museums, but I am looking for a steam locomotive in my general area (southeast) to possibly restore, although not anytime soon (right now I'm looking at Frisco 4018 in Birmingham, AL). I'm interested in the Great Smoky Mountains Railway and their steamer, 2-8-0 #1702, more than any other tourist line, but also find larger steamers such as 844, 1522, and 261 very fascinating. The link to my website has some information on my travels on steam trains around the country. If you go by, sign the guestbook.
