West Chester RR operating former PRR West Chester branch between West Chester and Glen Mills has ex-B&O GP9 No. 6499. IIRC it came to WCRR as Ohio Central No. 99. The branch is owned by SEPTA and leased to the Borough of West Chester which sub-leases it to WCRR.

When SEPTA took over commuter service in the Philadelphia area it received two former PRR GP9s No. 7019 and No. 7028. These were later renumbered Nos. 90 and 91. They were later sold, sometime in the 90s IIRC, but I'm not sure where they ended up. Anybody remember seeing them?

I'm surprised that these two units from Utah have not been mentioned:
SP 3769, at the Utah State Railroad Museum, stripped on donation for display (no prime movers, no traction motors, all doors welded shut). The lowdown is on the museum roster I wrote a few year back: http://theunionstation.org/museums/utah-state-railroad-museum/spencer-s-eccles-rail-center/

And Utah Central Railway 201, chop nose, ex-Rarus Railway (beyond that I have no other information), still in use as a captive switcher at the Business Depot Ogden industrial park. Image

Still listed on SRY roster on The Diesel Shop, but no pictures of the #112 under SRY ownership; it is noted on The Diesel Shop as converted to a slug circa 2008.

Utah Central Railway 201, chop nose, ex-Rarus Railway 201 began life as Western Maryland 44.

It is one of only three surviving Western Maryland 1st generation geeps. The other two are
GP9s 25 and 39, both owned by George's Creek Railway.

An update, there are now three GP9s in Utah. Heber Valley Historic Railroad purchased former Great Western 296, nee-Union Pacific, from a now-defunct museum in Boulder Colorado. On April 29 2017 it made its first revenue run after years of static display.

Photo update for GN #622/BN #1522:1/Potlatch Forest Ind. #1522/ICG GP10 #8465/IC/PREX #1000 - still assigned to the Elkhart & Western, latest photo 7/17 at Elkhart, IN.

Photo update for GN #628/BN #1528:1/c-n GP10 #1422/BNSF #1422:1 - still at NREX, Silvis, IL, as of 5/16.

Update for GN #646: to BN #1546:1, rebuilt 7/74 to c-n GP10 #1403, to BNSF #1403:1, retired 1/01, sold to NREX as #SC02, stored at Waycross, GA, sometime before 3/15, then renumbered (back) to #1403, and leased to the Heart of Georgia RR, latest photo 10/16 at Cordele, GA.

Photo update for GN #651/BN #1551:1/Colorado & Eastern #1551/Kyle RR #1551/Great Smoky Mountains RR #1551/Ogeechee RY #1551/Heart of Georgia RR #1807 - latest photo 10/16 at Americus, GA.

Photo update for GN #657/BN #1809/Central Montana Rail, Inc. (CM) #1809 - latest photo 12/15 at Moccasin, MT.

But a photo of FTRX #205 from 10/13 lists it as, and photographic evidence concurs, that it is ex-NCCX #6400, exx-BN #1975, nee-SP&S #150. In contrast, the latest photo of FTRX #205 was taken in 5/17 in Toledo, OH (with the ex-CBRY #206, as FTRX #206, and repainted blue), and this #205 is clearly the ex-CBRY #205.

The CNYHS reports that NYC 5740 has been scrapped: https://cdm16694.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/p16694coll29/id/481

Of the other NYC GP7 and GP9 units listed earlier in the thread, I'm not aware of any others owned by a museum or a historical society. I'd be happy to be corrected.

NP 368/BN 1947 ran out of Grand Rapids, MI for a number of years on the GRE as #24. When I caught word that it was going up for sale I tried to purchase it but somebody else either had deeper pockets or new somebody. That was a darn nice unit. Owned by a paper mill or something out east now. Miss seeing that old girl around.

Former Hampton and Branchville GP-9s 686 and 859, both still having their original N&W numbers, are now on the Naugatuck Railroad in CT. 686 is in service, after a fair amount of TLC. 859 will follow 686 through the shop, hopefully as soon as the 'all clear' is given for this pandemic.

Naugatuck Railroad 686, built 1959 as N&W 686, then Hampton & Branchville 686, then loco dealer Power Rail in Monroe, Ga. In service at NAUG as of 12-2019. Unit is in an N&W-inspired "quick black paint" job.

NAUG 859, same pedigree info as above. Both units built with 26-L brake, dynamic brake, and dual control stands. Dynamics disabled before we got 'em, one control stand removed in Georgia before shipping. Cosmetically quite ugly, but good mechanical and electrical bones (Exane low-voltage rewire on both, about 12 years ago). Both units now short-hood forward. They will NOT be chopped.

Both ordered as Y-6b killers; put in service by N&W at Naugatuck, WVa., of all places.

859 reminds me of how 872 and 885 looked when we found them at the mine in WV. They are now ELKR 4 and 5, and like 859, both are 1959 ex- N&W GP-9's with dual stands, 26L brake, dynamics, good wheels, etc. 885 even has a 567D engine. Traction motors are D-77's. N&W took good care of their units and these also have good bones although the mine we bought them from didn't, and when I saw them last summer they were obviously out-of-service (Elk River Railroad is only storing cars now), and are being cannibalized with headlights gone, etc. Too bad!
Also present are ELKR #1,2 and 3. #1 and 2 are ex- GP-9's converted by VMV to -10's, while 3 is an ex- GP-7 (ex-IT 1750) converted to a -10.

NAUG 686 is like driving a reliable and comfortable old pick-up truck. Given the choice, I’ll run the GP over the U-boat, especially in the rain. The u-boat is no fun in the rain. The walkways, steps, and cab doors are better too. Great job by our mechanical staff in getting her back into service! It’s much appreciated.
