Here are some piles of frames.

Still working on the engine cooling system, but also stripping the door and window frames of hardware and glass. Many Irons in the fire!

Next stop will be the blast shop.

Currently working with my paint guy to see with what primer I’ll be coating these parts.

Some sort of epoxy primer, don’t know the brand yet.

Moving forward.

The window frames and doors are back from the blast shop. Some repairs will be needed on the louvered hood doors. The blasting machine caused some warping of the steel. Not a huge problem, but more work, none the less.

My paint guy dropped off the epoxy primer and top-coat today.

I have the freshly blasted steel pieces in my climate controlled shop for storage. Don’t want the humidity to cause any rust issues.

So much to do. I’ll keep posting updates as the parts are primed and painted.

Should start looking like a locomotive again!

Mark K.

That transfer caboose you guys got from the "Modoc Railroad Academy" liquidation in Illinois is about the right size to go with this unit.

Thanks guys.

What mruanejr is referring to is a project that’s been in the works for a while but I haven’t mentioned it. I’m still not sure how much info I can share. But here’s a little teaser…

Monongahela RR caboose #67 is coming to the Stewartstown RR next week. I’m going to fund the restoration and will put it in service hauling passengers. I’ll make another thread on RYPN to follow the progress.

It’s mostly cosmetic work. Won’t be as complicated as #6!

The Modoc caboose is in decent shape, I replace some draft gear parts and a bent coupler. It needs some brake pipe work, but nothing major.

On the Little Mo front, I tested out the epoxy primer in my spray gun tonight. Getting more comfortable with it and primed a few window frames in the process. Sorry no pictures, I’ll send some from the next batch of parts that get primed.

1979 (top) and June of this year (bottom). East coast clearance cupola, you won't have to trim the trees for this one.

Hey Big Jim.

This will make for four ‘cabeeses’. Somehow ‘Cabeeses’ is my favorite plural word, so thanks for using it!

1. We have a nice LV unit… Currently in service. Maybe mruanejr can tell more about that. Wink. He owns it.

2. Nice UP, our Blue Caboose. In regular service on the STRT. In great shape.

3. The Modoc transfer caboose. Almost in regular service. Needs minor repairs.

4. MGA #67. So glad to not only restore it cosmetically, but to put it in service.

My personal goal is to never take on a project as a ‘pretty static display’. Every piece I take on will return to service.

Thanks PMC. We have an abundance of trees on the STRT. Adds to our scenery. Sometimes we have to cut them back even for MOW equipment. ‘Close to nature’ I guess.lol.

Now with all that rolling stock, time to put more resources towards track extensions! ;)

There was a privately owned ex-PRR caboose there for a long time, but I think it left in the last few years.

Hi PMC.

I don’t have any info on that PRR Caboose. It got shipped out shortly after I started at Stewartstown.

We, also, work on that consistently.

I’m on the track crew as well. We split our time between maintaining our class 1 track and extending it. We have plenty of ties in inventory, but limited man power.

Much of our rolling stock investments are from individuals, such as myself.

We can always use more volunteers to help install those surplus ties;) Will help extend that line!

Mark - just ask Mike, the last two times I was there to volunteer with track work, I was, well, rather useless. LOL

Big Jim.

You are very far from useless. You have promoted our little Railroad extremely well in your media. Thanks for your hard work.
