Hi to all
Just a short update ...despite sub zero temperatures we have completed the residing of the North side of the car, this si the side that bears the brunt of the weather as the photos illustrate. We are very excited and happy about the transformed look.
Now for a nice building!!

I have enjoyed looking at this fantastic project.

I've a few questions:

What is the long term plan for this car when restoration is complete?

I see the drawing includes wheels and draft gear. Will these eventually be located/restored or fabricated from new?

Is the plan for a static (presumably inside a building) display somewhere?

I know Mid-Continent operates wooden cars like this. Are there any plans for eventually operating this car?

Thanks in advance. Great fun to watch the progress.

Hello Scott
Thanks for the comments, we think she is fantastic too!
Your questions as follows
1 Long term goal is to save here for good, not to become a derelict in a few years again. We wish to put her on display somewhere appropriate and accessible to the public both inside and outside (not stuffed and mounted like some exhibits in towns)

2 We are searching for wheels and trucks wooden Pullman style 4 wheel, we wil NOT compromise and have freight car trucks or steel trucks. If necessary we will contract someone to build new ones. Air tanks gas tanks and such like we would like to replicate in Glassfibre or something with a lot less weight than the original items.

3/4It will be static as there is nowhere to run a car like this around here, also a lot more work would have to go into making her rigid enough to withstand the wear and tear and be entirely safe.

Its our intention (and the city of Cheyenne and depot museum) that the car be placed on display with other items of stock next to the historic depot on 15th street and in its own building.

Hope this helps, this we hope is the first item of at least three to be restored here

All the best

Well done, gang. It's such a buzz when you finish a particular part of a project and can just stand back for an hour and go "wow"!
Cheers, Bob
