According to the Ozark Mountain Railcar site the Erie doodlebug 5012 at the Ohio Railway Museum has been sold. Anyone know where it is going?

Apparently the job must have been harder than anticipated. Erie 5012 has been donated back to ORM and is up for sale on Ozark again. Anyone have any idea what happened? Is the Erie 5012 *that* rotten?

If other equipment at ORM is any indication, it may be in very rough shape. One of our guys looked at the N&W combine about a year ago, as we were interested in it. Based on his inspection and the photos, we reached the conclusion that there wasn't enough left to weld to

I wouldn't say that it is an impossible deal......5012 is pretty bad.....ok, maybe really bad. But, anything is restoreable....its simply a matter of how much you are willing to spend on it.
I've seen worse. I was involved with restoring a car that, when we got it, was little more than some running gear and the rusty sides of the body.... We fabricated the ends of the body and the entire interior, floor, etc... The final price tag on that one was a bit over $300K and it was a small car.....
People justify spending that kind of money on steam locos all the time.....so, whats the problem?
At a guess, $300K would probably make it run....hmm, some sand blasting, a little paint, some new windows, new carpet......maybe repower it (oh no!)...lol...

That boxy stuff above the roofline in the engine area...
.. Is that original to the car or was it added on? Mufflers?

The "boxy stuff" is original. Those are the engine radiators.
