Just received my copy of “The Engine’s Moan – American Steam Whistles”. It is very comprehensive and well written. I can highly recommend it.

Ed Fagen is an old friend of mine. He is a retired Professor of Chemistry from the University of Delaware and was active many years ago as editor of the Wilmington & Western Railroad's newlsetter, The Lantern. His steam whistle collection is astounding and his scholarship, I'm sure, will equal his level of interest. I believe he is also editor of "Horn & Whistle" magazine, published by the Horns and Whistle Collectors Society of America. Just a few scraps of information to endorse Fagen's new work.
