News reports out of CBS affiliate KRQE in Albequerque N.M. states that the FRA has declared unsafe locomotives # 463 & 497. Many ticket holders were turned away due to a scheduled double header. When the train from Chama left it was 3 hours late. This leaves only 2 steamers available for C&TS I believe. Not a good thing during the busy tourist season. George Bartholomew has his hands full now.
btflco@aol.com |

Jeff:
Did you see the broadcast in question? If so, could you answer a few questions, as some of the facts are in dispute.
1. The main point of disagreement is who initiated the removal from service of Nos. 463 and 497. My source says the FRA did; the railroad says it did. Did the report explicitly say the FRA took the engines out?
2. Were any track violations referenced?
Thanks.
JAC SteamCentral |

I understand that steam gurus Dan Ranger and Steven Butler are making an extended visit to CATS this month to get them up and running again.
Dave
lathro19@idt.net |
