Fellow Preservationists,
Now that we have secured a deal on the oldest Alco RS-1 left in the US, we are facing a need for financial support to actually load and move the locomotive and then unload it at our location.
Have been told this may be as high as $ 50,000 due to requiring two cranes at both sites with riggers and blockers, the possibility of a high load, hopefully not, and the movement itself.
Therefore, anyone that would care to see this Alco locomotive moved and restored to operation, please contact us at: therepairgroup@yahoo.com
Corporate assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Congrate and sincere condolences.

Perhaps you will see fit to tell us more about who you are and what you want to do apart form move an old Alco if you wish us to offer support?

I'd love to know what loco it is, where it is, where it is going and what you are doing with it?

It appears that this loco is 1941 ALCO CRI&P # 749. B/N-69425. It was requisitioned by the Army in 1942, rebuilt as RSD1 # 8006. Served in Iran, later to Alaska RR # 1042, then back to USA 8006. Went to TVA 8006 and eventually sold to Midwest Coal Handlers # 8006.
