John Garner and CMO Kevin Rice were on hand to discuss the status of #1309.

High points were. Mr. Garner announced that funding has been released for some of the contracts that were submitted to the state and that the Contractor for the heavy boiler work could be returning to work next week. They expect steam-up in approx. 12 weeks after a successful hydro test.

Crews have also been working on correcting rust damage and preparing cars for repainting. The first to cars to receive body repairs and repaint are the rebuilt Long Island cars that the WMSR received back in the early 1990's and the Baggage / Bike Rack Car.

Western Maryland Railway caboose #1813 has also received body and running gear work before being repainted. It will be lettered in the round "Fast Freight" herald.

Mr. Garner also announced the cars #100 and #724 (Man of War) will be leaving the WMSR for new homes along with another car. There will be other cars taking their place in the fleet.

That's fantastic! Great to see all the work going on at WMSR, and to see that the state of Maryland released the funding. Will be amazing to hear 1309 in the Alleghenies. Quick question, where is the Man O' War heading? This being a former CofG/Sou car it peaks my interest. Thanks!

I'm sorry, Mr. Garner didn't say where it was going. Only that the car needed more work then what the WMSR wanted to invest in the car so it was leaving the railroad.
