I also beleive there is an rsc-2 or 3 a1a-a1a in Danbury CT, I think that is owned by Mr. Ed Bowers, I have No Clue of its history or its potential to operate, I will bow over to Mr. Pincus on that , and hope he can clear that up

Danbury Also has a rs3/DeWitt from the MTA/CDOT, although another transplant i also here she leaks oil ,"alot more oil than a well worn alco244"

DRM does have the RSC-2 there, an original Seaboard unit #1513, that last ran on the New Hope and Ivy in the late 90's. From what I understand it was operational when it was loaned to Danbury but has never run there. It is in fact privately owned by Bowers. I can talk to my father since he knows DRM's president Ira and find out it's operational capability. It would be neat to see a 6 axle 244 under power! I really don't know how many 6 axle 244's are even left.......in any condition.

(If it's true about the oil problem on the #605 RS3m then that's shame, it's a nice engine otherwise. I haven't heard anything about that engine but will ask about it also. Housatonic's RS3m #9935 had a bad oil leak which wound up being a cracked 567b block that was welded up and repaired. RMNE's Mr Beres has alot of good info on that particular RS3m that I've tapped, especially since he ran it many times. I like the RS3m's and they intrigue me, but I'll save that for another thread at some point)

Don't forget the DL in Scranton,PA who has now 5 RS-3's with at least 4 in operating condition.

Jerry Jacobson owns at least 1 RS-3 that came from the Ohio Central.

NY & Greenwood Lake which I believe is in operating condition.

York-Durham Heritage Ry in Uxbridge (northeast of Toronto) has ex-Ontario Northland RS-3 #1310 which has been operational in recent times. Not sure of it's current status. They have a second, 244 powered RS unit from the Roberval & Saguenay.

Is the RS-2 at Campo the unit that was painted in "Santa Fe zebra stripes"? It was a "tribute" unit honoring Santa Fe "system unique" 2099. I remember seeing it at a special event in San Diego about 20 years ago.

Bob: You are correct. I is still in its zebra stripes as "ATSF 2098." It was painted to honor ATSF at a "Railfair" we put on in 1988. Originally it was Nevada Northern's KC#103. Later it went to Kennecott's Bingham Canyon mine in Utah where it was numbered 907. It really needed paint when we got it, and the museum went with the ATSF paint job.

About 10 years ago, one of our engineers wasn't paying enough attention to the temperature gauge, and it greatly overheated.

Plus, it needs eight new wheels. I'd love to see this girl operate again, but it needs lots of time and cash. Around $30,000 should make her go again.

While looking for info on Alaska 1034/DOT-013/whatever leaving Strasburg, I found this site, which seems to be a pretty exhaustive listing of Alco road switchers:

Then here are the switchers and cabs:

Bored out of your mind? Want all of them?

The Monticello group has an LIRR RS-3 done up as ICRR; I think that one is operable. It was ex-Gettysburg RR.

LIRR 1559 now painted as IC 704 (numbered above the IC's RS-2s) has two failed traction motors. Replacement motors are on site under a former Norfolk Southern slug.

The former Utah Railway RSD5, now painted NKP, at Portland is 244 powered.

This Trainorders.com thread has a post with a photo of NKP 324, originally Utah Railway 306, on the interchange track of the Oregon Rail Heritage Center with a caption stating that it has been sold to an organization in Utah.
