You have to love the press. Glad they got the grant, but please, don't put "steam" in a 1945 Diesel-Electric locomotive!

In an interesting turn of events, the title has now been changed.

This headline just goes to show the degree to which steam references keep being used in common speech, even when entirely wrong in this specific case. Perhaps these folks just had "worked up a head of steam." In some ways we should be pleased instead of lamenting the ignorance of the reporter, editor, etc. And I would be one of the first to point out poor reporting about railroad matters that is so common.

Actually, the headline for stories is not typically written by the reporter. Its developed later on in the layout process of the paper by another individual, often the layout or copy editor. This instance is a case of the reporter finding out about a poor title given to her story, which was promptly changed, but not until after the paper had been printed.
