Have there been any new reports lately on the 611 at all? The last time I heard they were over 2k in donations via Fundly,

No reports lately, although things continue to move along. There are many parties involved with this move, from donors, to the railroads, to crane companies and like with any move the logistics are taking some time. I am optimistic that there will be more news coming shortly.

Did anyone get any good photos of the locomotive on the flatcar, with particular attention to the tie downs?

Wonderful news! I would urge all those who contributed to this effort to continue donating since now they will see the fruits of their sacrifice!

At the request of Railpace Newsmagazine founder Tom Nemeth, who presented a program to the Baltimore Chapter NRHS's annual banquet last Saturday, the Baltimore Chapter has made a $1,000 donation in lieu of speaker fees and travel expenses towards the L&NE 611 repatriation project, through the Lehigh Valley Chapter NRHS.

This is the third year in a row the Balltimore Chapter has made such a donation to its banquet presenter's chosen rail charity, and we are pleased to be able to make such donations.

Some photos were taken but not specifically of the tie downs. If you like, I can take detailed photos when 611 arrives in topton.

As for the donation made by the Baltimore Chapter of the NRHS at the request of Tom Nemeth, we are extremely grateful to both parties. Without the many generous donors, this project would have never gotten off the ground(literally). While 611 is "just another S2", it means a great deal to many people. The fact that there was even a chance of saving this locomotive has been the introduction to railway preservation for several people I know who otherwise may have never had an appreciation for it.

As of yesterday the S2 was sitting in Reading Yard awaiting delivery to the ALLN

Just looked at the photo and it appears that the wheel sets are there. It's just hard to see
all of them.

611 was removed from the flat car today and is now on rail at the Allentown & Auburn.

Will she eventually get black and a meatball herald? In any event, another ALCO is saved, and more importantly, a tangible link to a long favored eastern road.

She will eventually be painted back in her L&NE paint. 611 will need a good deal of work before the cosmetic part of her restoration.

I'm very glad to see this project was successful to return this rare locomotive to its home state. This is a great accomplishment for everyone involved.
