Dallas laid the line to Southern Methodist University from an older section that went out Cedar Springs/Bowen to close to the old fair grounds in Oak Lawn. The SMU line was put in about 1920. When we did the repairs to the rail cuts at McKinney-Fairmount, we discovered 4 different rail sizes illustrating the different times that line had been modified. The only area of concern was a short stretch of Cole where there was a drainage area flowing across Cole and there were about 7 ties that had some deterioration.

The line original on McKinney dated from about the turn of the century (1900). All rail we have uncovered for removal all over Dallas, including crossover switches, have been useable.
