We road from St. Paris, Ohio to Springfield, Ohio today. The local Lions club and a couple of other groups organized the event. I would guess there were about 700 total that rode on the 3 trips. The engines were from Rail America that owns the line from Springfield to Lima. The cars were from Lebanon, Ohio. Scott Trostle gave a history of the former DT&I line. Scott has written several books on railroad history. One was on Lincoln's Funeral Train. Train Crew. |

The Sidney Ohio news article was wrong. The rail cars cars were built in the late 1950's. Where the cars came from was correct. The 2 engines were from the Rail America group that owns the track. The Henry Ford part was to the reference of Ford buying the DT&I in the early 20th Century. As usual the news media gets most of the articles wrong. Train Crew |
