It's in the Canadian Province of Manitoba, in a municipality called Winnipeg.

Sad, but this guy doesn’t sound qualified. Of course, the reporting is suspect too. Winnipeg is a big city and Prairie Dog I think many of us know. It’s a Crown. It’s not too complicated in my opinion.

But then the next day something came loose and went out of whack, and it threw out the timing and bent some gears and parts.

I hate it when that happens...

Give him the benefit of the doubt that the reporter is pretty good at making him look like a complete idiot, when he's really not.....

You make it sound like Winnipeg is a little hick town in the middle of nowhere. It's a city of over 700,000 people. Large enough to host an NHL team that almost made the Stanley Cup finals this year.

Hi Mark

If you can get in contact with the Gentlemen who is running the Park Train, there are (2) Live Steam clubs that (MIGHT) be able to help, they are both located in Winnipeg. From the article, it sounds like the Valve motion it out time.
The name of the Live Steam clubs
Assiniboine Live Steamers located in Winnipeg,
Manitoba Live Steamers also located in Winnipeg

Both clubs do have a website, the gentlemen that is having the problem might be better off visiting the clubs. And maybe one of the members can visit the park, and tell what is wrong with the locomotive. This is just a suggestion. Pat member of Waushakum Live Steamers of Holliston, Mass.

The Assiniboine Live Steamers seem to be located just to the West of the Park Train, which is actually in Assiniboine Park!

He needs to contact the Tweetsie shop, they bought the effects of Crown Metal Products (with the exception of the WABCO steam compressor division). The thought of contacting the local live steamers is also a good one, especially considering this comment he made
""You should never really have to re-time a steam train — like a car. Once it's timed it's accurate unless you do something or something happens to throw the timing off."

Ah, being out of time is not unusual for a Crown, pretty much close to being normal. I personally have seen and heard only two of the 24" gauge ones that were in perfect time, and they are the ones at Hersheypark.

He needs a bigger shovel. Maybe that will fix it.

It sounds like he already did that, according to the article:

He's also reached out to a shop in North Carolina that took over the sale of parts for the trains, who gave some advice, but the train still won't go.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like he's figured out the problem and has it up and running again.
