Saturday, August 4th

On Saturday George Peck plans to continue work to restore the track at MP 25.5 with the gradall and side-dump. George will start at 9am at Mt. Tremper.

In Kingston, Cornell Street will open at 8:00am. Earl plans to do some trackwork before the regular train run.


Sunday, August 5th

George Peck will continue on 25.5. He will start at Mt. Tremper at 9am.

In Kingston, Ernie Klopping plans to start at 9:30am at Cornell Street. He plans to continue work restoring the Kingston tamper.

Al Schoessow was engineer, Neil Isabelle Conductor, Ed Winstanley and Kathy Isabelle were car attendants, and John Prestopino, ticket agent. New volunteer George Treutle was trainee. George Peck assisted.


Saturday, August 4th

In Mt Tremper, Walt Otto was engineer, Ray Farrell was conductor, and Bill Kaba, trainman. George Bain was ticket agent.

George Peck, Art Vogel and I worked on the washout at MP 25.5. We dumped 6 more loads of fill:

George Peck tested the track with Engine 29 before placing it back into service so the Scenic Train can now go west 1/2 mile from Mt. Tremper to lengthen our current ride.

In Kingston, Mark Glaser writes: "On Saturday, the CMRR ran four "Parent's Day" extra trains out of the railroad's Westbrook Lane Station. Today's crew members included; Earl Pardini-engineer, Al Schoessow-conductor, Mimi Pardini and Alex Sorenson-car attendants. Tony Gambino and Mark Glaser were brakemen and Jim Bruck ticket agent. Earlier in the day, Earl Pardini and I weed whacked east of the O&W switch and replaced a joint bar on the north rail in the same location. Later, weeds and grass were cleared on the east and west approaches to the Wash. Ave. crossing."


Sunday, August 5th

On Sunday, Al Schoessow was engineer, John Prestopino Conductor, Tony Bocchino car attendant, and Peter Fluchere ticket agent. George Peck assisted. The scenic train started running west to MP 25.8 before heading back to 23.3. This is the first extension of operating track since the hurricane hit in August 2011.

Kingston Report from Mark Glaser: "At Cornell St. Yard today Ernie Klopping and I worked on the following projects: Continued mechanical work on the Kingston pneumatic tamper, successfully restarted the MOW pickup, and installed a new electrical line to the boxcar along with a few outside receptacles for power hand tools."

On Saturday Art Vogel plans to lead a crew to move rail for the new extension of the siding at MP 24.75. Art will start at 10am at Mt. Tremper.

In Kingston, Cornell Street will open at 10:00am.


Sunday, August 12th

George Peck will continue obtaining siding materials for the extension of the Longyear switch. He will start at Mt. Tremper at 9am.

In Kingston, John Patane plans to lead a crew doing trackwork, but check with him directly for confirmation.

In Kingston Mark Glaser writes: "In Kingston today, the CMRR ran four "Ulster County SPCA" trains from our Westbrook Lane Station. The train crew included; Al Schoessow-engineer, John Prestopino-conductor, Bob Blake and myself- brakemen, Jim Bruck was ticket agent. Tony Bocchino provided flagging at Trailway's crossing and O'Neil St."


Sunday, August 12th

On Sun. the 12th of August the Enginer was Al Schoessow. Conductor was John Prestopino and Tony Bocchino the car attendant. Frank Maione was trainee. Ticket agent was Dave Cenova.

In Kingston, Mark Glaser writes: "In Kingston on Sunday, John Patane led a track crew consisting of Earl Pardini and Mark Glaser. The track was insected from Fair St. crossing west to approximately MP 4.12; 28 ties were marked for replacement. Later in the day 11 ties were replaced between MP 3.63 (just east of Westbrook Station) and MP 3.81 (adjacent to Herzog Lumber's east material yard.)"

Saturday, August 18th

From Mark Glaser: "The CMRR ran it's second "Teddy Bear" train on Saturday out of it's Westbrook Lane Station. All four runs were well attended in what has become a favorite in the railroad's series of event focused trains in Kingston. Today's crew included Al Schoessow-engineer, Earl and Mimi Pardini-musicians, Pat Smalley-car attendant, Tony Gambino and Tony Bochinno, flaggers, Mark Glaser-conductor. Ken Darmstadt was ticket agent. Ed Mead assisted with station duties."

In Mt. Tremper, Walt Otto was Engineer, Conductor was Ray Farrell. Bill Kaba was Brakeman, and Peter Fluchere was ticket agent.

in Phoenicia, George Peck and Art Vogel repaired the ballast regulator and began grade restoration in the Phoenicia Yard.

For the Twilight Limited, Engineer was Al Schoessow, Ray Farrell was conductor, Brakeman was Tony Bocchino, Neil & Kathy Isabelle were car attendants, and George Treutle was trainee. Peter Fluchere was ticket agent. Many other volunteers assisted. Earl Pardini led the Slide Mountain Band in a square dance before the train, and music on board.

From Mark Glaser: "Today in Kingston, Bob Blake and I inspected the track from MP 4.80 (Farmers Xng) to MP 4.26 (O&W Switch). Bolt work and tamping just east of the Thruway overpass@ (MP 4.87 ) and tie respiking 1 rail length west of the Washington Avenue crossing was also completed. At Cornell St., Ernie Klopping continued testing the Kingston tamper's pneumatic guns."

On Saturday George Peck and Art Vogel plan to meet at Shokan at 9:15am. They plan to load materials there and bring them to Mt. Tremper and Phoenicia. They could use extra hands.

In Kingston, Cornell Street will open at 10:00am.


Sunday, August 26th

In Mt. Tremper, George Peck plans to start at 9:15am.

In Kingston, Mark Glaser will open Cornell Street yard at 10am. Plans are to do trackwork and work on the new tamper. Mark also need someone to weed-wack from the O&W switch to Washington Avenue to aid track inspection in this area.

Wednesday, August 22nd

On Wednesday, Al Schoessow and Dick Wilhelm continued work on the Kingston tamper.


Friday, August 24th

On Fri. the 24th, at Mt. Tremper the engineer was Al Shoessow and the conductor was Neil Isabelle. Kathy Isabelle and Ed Winstanley were car attendants and George Truetle was trainee. The ticket agent was Russ Hallock.

At Shokan, Earl Pardini, Art Vogel and George Peck loaded 70 ties and took them to Longyear's siding.


Saturday, August 25th

In Mt. Tremper, Engineer was John Watson, Ray Farrell was conductor, and Bill Kaba Trainman. Peter Fluchere was ticket agent. George Bain painted the Gradall.

In Phoenicia, George Peck and Art Vogel removed a heavy piece of equipment from the D&H baggage car, to help empty the car in preparation for restoration work.

On Saturday in Kingston, the CMRR ran it's "Baseball Train" with all passengers wearing baseball caps receiving ticket discounts. Saturday's train crew included, John Patane-engineer,Tony Bocchino and Tony Gambino-brakemen, Mark Glaser-conductor. Ken Darmstadt was ticket agent. At Cornell Street, Al Schoessow continued work on the Kingston tamper.


Sunday, August 26th

n Sun. the 26th, at Mt. Tremper the Engineer was John Watson. Walt Otto was conductor and Tony Bocchino was brakeman. Ticket agent was Dave Cenova.

On Sunday in Kingston, a brush crew cut the "material yard", O'Neil St. crossing to Downs St. Later in the day, a track crew replaced a damaged joint bar @ MP 4.99. Today's MOW crew included John Patane, Bob Blake, and Mark Glaser. At Cornell Street, Al Schoessow and John Prestopino continued work on the W110B's pneumatic tamping guns. George Bain painted the MOW pickup's rear mounted tool boxes.


Monday, August 27th

George Bain worked on the Kingston Tamper, cleaning the pneumatic guns with a wire brush.

Saturday, September 1st.

In Kingston, The CMRR wrapped up it's series of Kingston Summer Shuttles today operating it's fortieth train of the season out of the railroad's Westbrook Lane Station. The crew included Earl Pardini-engineer, Mimi Pardini-car attendant, John Prestopino-conductor, Tony Bochinno and Mark Glaser-brakemen. Ken Darmstadt was ticket agent.

In Mt. Tremper, Al Schoessow was engineer, Ray Farrell was conductor, and Dan Howard and Bill Kaba were trainmen. George Bain was ticket agent.

Sunday, September 2nd

On Sunday at Mt. Tremper the Engrineer was Walt Otto. The conductor was John Prestopino and Tony Bocchino brakeman. Frank Maione was trainee. Pat Smalley was Ticket agent.

In Kingston, a track crew consisting of George Peck, John Patane, and Mark Glaser inspected the track from Chandler Dr. (MP 3.56) to just west of the O&W switch (MP 4.26). Over 150 ties were marked for replacement. At Cornell St. Yard, Al Schoessow, Dick Wilhelm, Ernie Klopping, and Earl Pardini completed repairs to the W110B tamper's pneumatic guns. The machine was placed on the track for the first time and it's overhead metal canopy fitted by the yard crane. Many thanks to all who worked to bring the machine through the major mechanical and pneumatic stage of the restoration.

Sunday, September 9th

George Peck plans to unload materials for the Longyear Switch. He will start at Mt. Tremper at 9am and likely move to the switch location afterwards.

Earl Pardini plans to work on bridge C9. He will open Cornell Street at 9:30am. Mark Glaser plans to lead a crew running the sickle bar in Kingston and doing trackwork afterwards.

On Friday, Earl Pardini and Al Schoessow moved the scarifier to Kingston.


September 8, 2012

Crew was John Watson, engineer, Ray Farrell, conductor, Neil Isabelle, brakeman, and Bruce Devorkin, ticket agent. George Peck and George Bain assisted.

In Kingston, Al Schoessow and Dick Wilhelm worked on the scarifier.


Sunday, September 9th.

Crew was Walt Otto, engineer, John Watson, conductor, Tony Bocchino, brakeman, and Frank Maione, trainee. Ticket agent was Russ Hallock.

In Kingston, the yard crew completed fitting and bolting the metal roof in place on the W110 B tamper, as well as correcting a starter motor circuit problem on the scarifier. Additional work on the sickle bar engine and MOW pickup was also performed. The stone cart was loaded in Phonecia and delivered to Cornell St.,where it was lifted and placed on the storage track. Later in the day a mowing crew cut in-gage from ONeil St. (MP 3.13) to west of the Holiday Inn (MP 4.46). Participating today were; Earl Pardini, Al Schoessow, Dick Wilhelm, John Prestopino, Bob Blake, and Mark Glaser. George Peck stopped by and assisted with a test run of the tamper.

In Phoenicia, John Patane, George Bain, Harry Jameson and I loaded materials for the Longyear siding.

In Kingston, Earl Pardini and Bob Blake worked on the following: replaced fuel pump on car mover, welded lifting hooks to sickle bar and at C-9, drilled both hook and pedestal mounting bolt holes.


Sunday, September 16th

On Sunday, the Engineer was John Prestopino. Walt Otto was conductor and Tony Bocchino the brakeman. Frank Maione was trainee. Ticket agent was Peter Fluchere.

Earl Pardini and George Peck moved the materials loaded Saturday to the Longyear siding site.

At Cornell Street, a yard crew including Earl Pardini, Al Schoessow, Ernie Klopping and Mark Glaser worked on the following projects: W110B Tamper- Installed of new seat, fabricated and installed rear safety cover on engine, changed out rail grabber set, trouble shot misc. hydraulic controls, test ran on yard track. (The tamper was officially placed in service by Al Schoessow). Sickle bar- Lube;axles.bar, pulleys. MOW pickup- refilled rear axle. John Prestopino weed whacked the yard later in the day.
