Friday, June 29th

On Friday, we start running in Phoenicia on Fridays for the first time this year. First train is at 11am.


Saturday, June 30th

On Saturday, Earl Pardini will open Cornell Street at 9am in preparation for our first run in Kingston this year at 1pm at Westbrook Station.

In Mt Tremper, George Peck will start a crew at 9am at Mt. Tremper. Plans are to work on lengthening the new siding at Longyears and making track repairs at MP 25.5.


Sunday, July 1st

George Peck will be at Mt. Tremper at 9am.

Earl Pardini will open Cornell Street yard at 9:30am. There is an 11am charter, and in the afternoon trackwork is planned.

Thursday, June 28th

Earl Pardini and Al Schoessow finished mowing with the sickle bar in Kingston.


Friday, June 29th

The engineer was Earl Pardini. Conductor was John Prestopino and Mimi Pardini was car attendant. Al Schoessow did the flagging and Thom Johnson was station agent.


Saturday, June 30th

In Mt. Tremper, Walt Otto was engineer, Ray Farrell conductor, Bill Kaba, brakeman, and Tony Bocchino, car attendant. Al Johnson was flagger and Russ Hallock, ticket agent.

After the last train, George Peck and I put the hi-rail dump truck on the tracks at Andrew's Lane and took the 16 ties on the truck to Rock cut for installation. The truck was returned to Andrew's Lane to be used on repairs to MP 25.5 next weekend.

In Kingston today, CMRR kicked off it's summer shuttle service operating four passenger trains . Earl Pardini was engineer, John Watson conductor, Mark Glaser brakeman, Tony Gambino and Will Wilsey flaggers. Mimi Pardini served as car attendant and organized Fourth of July decorations. Ken Darmstadt was ticket agent.


Sunday, July 1st.

In Mt. Tremper, crew was John Watson, engineer, Walt Otto, conductor, Tony Bocchino, car attendant, Al Schoessow, flagger, and Peter Fluchere, ticket agent. George Peck assisted and repaired a joint bar at MP 24.8.

In Kingston, there was an 11 am charter with Earl Pardini, engineer, John Prestopino, conductor, Mark Glaser, flagger, and Dave Hilliard, car attendant.

Mark Glaser adds: "Sunday @ Cornell St. Yard, crews worked on brush clearing, west end switch and general car maintenance after the charter excursion in the morning. The Kingston tamper received it's rebuilt power plant back including many new internal parts and a reworked blower. A general buildup began with the attachment of hydraulic pumps at the rear of the block; fuel lines were removed for cleaning. Participating today were Earl Pardini, Bob Blake, Ernie Klopping, and myself."

On Saturday George Peck plans to continue work to restore the track at MP 25.5 with the backhoe and hi-rail dump truck. George will start at 9am at Mt. Tremper.

In Kingston, Cornell Street will open at 10:30am.

George Peck will continue on 25.5. He will start at Mt. Tremper at 9am.

In Kingston, Earl Pardini plans to start at 9:30am at Cornell Street. Plans are to do trackwork between Cornell Street and Washington Avenue.

Saturday, July 7th

At Mt. Tremper, John Patane was engineer, Ray Farrell, conductor, Bill Kaba, brakeman, and Tony Bocchino, car attendant. Al Schoessow was flagger and George Bain, ticket agent.

Also at Mt. Tremper, George Peck and Art Vogel moved equipment.

In Kingston, the CMRR ran it's "Circus Train" as scheduled. Saturday's crew was; Earl Pardini was Engineer, Mimi Pardini was car attendant, Dave Hilliard and Tony Gambino were flaggers, and Mark Glaser was conductor. Peter Fluchere was ticket agent.


Sunday, July 8th

In Mt. Tremper, Engineer was Al Schoessow, Conductor was Walt Otto, Tony Bocchino was car attendant, Ed Winstanley was flagger, and Bruce Devorkin was ticket agent.

In Kingston, Mark Glaser writes: "In Kingston today, a track crew consisting of Earl Pardini, Bob Blake, and myself inserted and spiked two ties under a comp. joint just west of the 587 overpass and did bolt work as needed to same. West of Wash. Ave., three ties were inserted and spiked on the tangent adjacent to the Holiday Inn parking lot. At MP 4.99, two ties previously placed were spiked up. Measurements were taken on C-9 for renotching ties to compensate for the '' doublers '' which top the girders on the westernmost span. Returning to Cornell Street later in the day, Bob Blake cleared parts of the yard with a weed whacker and Al Schoessow salvaged an air brake cover gasket for later use."

Friday, July 13th

The CMRR participated in the Kingston Children's Day Parade. At the end of the evening the crew took some riders down to C9 and back.

Mt Tremper - The engineer was Al Schoessow and conductor was Neil Isabelle. John Prestopino was brakeman. Russ Hallock was Ticket agent and flagger.


Saturday, July 14th

In Mt. Tremper, Al Schoessow was engineer, Ray Farrell conductor and Bill Kaba brakeman. Walt Otto was flagger and Peter Fluchere was ticket agent.

Also in Mt. Tremper, George Peck, Art Vogel and I took nine loads of stone to the minor washout at MP 25.5 with the hi-rail dump truck. We now have over half the fill we need at this location to repair the track and extend our ride westwards a half mile from Mt. Tremper.

Sunday, July 15th

In Mt. Tremper, Engineer was Walt Otto with John Watson the conductor. Trainman was Tony Bocchino and Al Shoessow a car attendant. Ed Winstanley was flagger and Bruce Devorkin ticket agent.

In Kingston, from Mark Glaser: "On Sunday in Kingston, track maintenance just east of MP 4 (Fair St. Crossing) included replacement of three ties,renewal of a damaged joint bar set,tamping and bolt work as needed. The crew returned to C-9 later in the afternoon and installed one of a pair of steel pedestals on the north side of the girder bridge section's middle pier. Today's crew included: Earl Pardini, Bob Blake, John Patane, Will Wilsey, and myself."

Joe,

The following items are left:

Complete installation of the four pedestals (two have been fabricated one installed).

Completion of timber replacement on final girder span and reinstallation of rail.

Final spiking and installation of spacer timbers.

We hope to be mostly complete by labor day and in service before year-end.

Not yet. That will begin once the rails have been reinstalled ( 5 are left) and we can move equipment there again. Hopefully within 30 days.

The westbound crossing gate at the CMRR's Route 28 crossing in Mt. Tremper was replaced today. It was taken out by a motorist about 2 months ago.

On Friiday the 20th of July at Mt. Tremper the Engineer was Al Schoessow. Conductor was John Prestopino with Ed Winstanley the car attendant. Russ Hallock was Ticket agent. .


Saturday, July 21st

From Mark Glaser: "In Kingston today, the CMRR ran four near capacity trains as part of the railroads popular 'Lollipop' series. Close to eighty balloons were handed out to children as well as countless lollipops. Today's KPX crew included Earl Pardini-engineer, Mimi Pardini-car attendant/hospitality, Alex Sorenson-car attendant, Anthony Gambino- trainman, Mark Glaser was conductor." Rich Kerimoglu also flagged, and ticket agent was Pat Smalley.

In Mt. Tremper, Al Schoessow was engineer, Ray Farrell was conductor and Bill Kaba was trainman. George Bain was ticket agent. George Peck and I cleared brush from the ROW from Andrew's Lane to Rock Cut.

Later that evening, the Twilight limited ran with the following crew: Al Schoessow. Engineer, Ray Farrell, Conductor, Richard Kerimoglu, Brakeman, Tony Boccino, Gladys Gilbert, Mark Glaser, John Patane, car attendants, and George Bain, Ticket Agent. Additionally, Earl Pardini and Mimi Pardini played with the Slide Mountain Band and new volunteer Ed Markle helped with audio.


Sunday, July 22nd.

Sunday the 22nd at Mt. Tremper the engineer was Al Schoessow and Walt Otto the conductor. Tony Bocchino was car attendant and Pat Smalley the ticket agent.

In Kingston, from Mark Glaser: "On Sunday, crews returned to the railroad's Esopus Creek Bridge at MP 5 completing the positioning and installation of a pair of steel pedestals on the girder bridge section's middle pier. Up on the bridge deck, running rails on the north side were power spiked to the end of the through truss and on the south to about the midpoint. Today's C-9 crew consisted of Earl Pardini, Bob Blake, Will Wilsey,and myself. At Cornell St. Yard, Ernie Klopping continued work on the Kingston tamper."

Earl Pardini and Al Schoessow cut brush along the ROW in Kingston, especially in the Dutch Village area.


Friday, July 27th

Al Schoessow was engineer, Neil ISabelle was conductor, John Prestopino was brakeman, and Russ Hallock was ticket agent.


Saturday, July 28th

On Saturday at Mt Tremper, John Watson was Engineer, Ray Farrell Conductor, Bill Kaba trainman, and Peter Fluchere was ticket agent.

George Peck and I cut and replaced bolts between Longyear switch and Andrew's Lane. 16 Joints were tightened or had bolts replaced.

In Kingston on Saturday, the CMRR ran 4 "Teddy Bear" trains despite heavy rains early in the day. Engineer was Earl Pardini with Al Schoessow the conductor. Mimi Pardini, Pat Smalley and Alex Sorenson were car attendants. Walt Otto and Mark Glaser were flaggers. The ticket agent was Ken Darmstadt.


Sunday, July 29th

In Mt. Tremper, Engineer was Walt Otto, John Prestopino was Conductor, Tony Bocchino and Ed Winstanley were car attendants, and new volunteer Frank Maione assisted. Dave Cenova was ticket agent.

In Kingston, Ernie Klopping finished the tamper engine, and installed the hydrulic tank and lines. Started engine. Earl Pardini & Al Schoessow assisted.

From Mark Glaser: "On Sunday 7-29, a yard crew consisting of Al Schoessow, John Patane, and myself worked on the Hi-rail pickup. Ernie Klopping and Earl Pardini restarted the Kingston tamper's diesel engine for the first time after a major rebuild. Bob Blake weed whacked a large portion of the yard's south side. Late in the afternoon a track crew did inspections from west of Westbrook Lane crossing along the tangent adjacent to the Plaza parking lot. 9 ties were distributed along the ROW for later installation. George Peck delivered 90 lb. bolts to Cornell St. and helped troubleshoot a no start condition on the Hi-rail pickup."
