Hi All

First thanks Pete for agreeing with me , I have included a picture right out of my 1941 locomotive cyclopedia of a commonwealth frame for a Vanderbilt tender .

Not sure why my posted reply didnt show but here goes..
Thanks Joe sorry for the confusion..
Regarding the casting process that is interesting as inside the holes and cavity of this casting, there was alot of sandy grit which I assume was railbed dirt from when she was in service or??

Some of the larger casting on these locomotives tend to be hollow, the bumper post on the front end of the locomotive is a good example.
