Today we finished up some final details on the 662 up in preparation for the move to the Virginia Museum of Transportation later this week. We also pulled the 662 and the unrestored 663 down our lead track where we could spot them for some group photos. Both the Norfolk & Western 41 and the Norfolk & Western 518409 are both owned and operated by the Roanoke Chapter NRHS who also provided the restoration of the CW 662. |

Steve, That certain flag is going to be at our other project, the Virginian station (which should have the new roof completed by the end of the month). |

If there is interest in restoring one of the Baldwins to operation, parts for it might be available next week: http://railswap.org/osc/classifieds/index.php?page=item&id=526 |

Beautiful Restoration. The comparison between the before of 663 and the after of 662 is a testament to the dedication of those involved, in to doing a great cosmetic restoration. Bravo. |

that is a madfab job guys. If you get the parts just go for it on 663. That would be the ultimate proof you can bring em from the dead from the scrap yard. |

For what it's worth here is another view of the 662 in its final days of restoration showing the top detail of this rare and interesting diesel. Love the six individual exhaust stacks. The conversion from the as built four stacks to the as operated six stacks was a factory conversion performed by Baldwin shortly after delivery due to an exhaust pressure issue. Any case now that the diesel is completed she is now on display under cover in the Virginia Museum of Transportation, in Roanoke VA. http://www.railpictures.net/photo/402717 And now onto the next project...N&W Coach, Virginian Caboose...N&W Caboose... Enjoy Steve |

Bravo! Bravo! One of the "Lost Engines of Roanoke" has been "found." does TRAIN still give a restoration award? This needs to be nominated! |

Am I correct in assuming that in the decades in the scrap yard its been stripped of copper and the prime mover is now frozen solid? |
