Back at "Steam in the Valley", I managed to garner a bit of cab time on that engine, and at that time it had a rather unique seat for the engineer. Apparantly, the engine's last service assignment entailed quite a bit of backing. The seat cusion on the engineer's side slide on a rail mounted to the cab wall. That allowed the engineer to slide the seat all the way to the front of that large side window, where he could sit with the reverse lever to his right and the throttle in front of him. It was a simple but elegant solution to running long distances in reverse, better than laying one's back against the open window sill.
