Since nobody else has mentioned it, and a lot of us have his books in our collections, just thought I would note the passing of railroad book author Alvin F. Staufer, 88, a life-long resident of NE Ohio. For some reason the obituary in the local paper made absolutely no mention of his railroad connections.

A more extensive obit can be read here: http://akronrrclub.wordpress.com/tag/alvin-staufer/

Wow! If there ever was a railroad historian whose good works impacted our community, it was Al Staufer. The Pennsy Power trilogy alone are a testament to his legacy. I have spent this last year scarfing up his other volumes off eBay.

So long, adieu, and I hope Heaven abounds with clear sunny days, I1sa Decapods, T1 Duplexes, and no need for a camera, since another train will pass in the following 5 -10 minutes. Thanks for your good efforts, Al Staufer.
