I must say that this topic certainly brings back to me very enjoyable memories.I had an aunt that lived near 103rd street and Fernwood Park area from1946 until 1952 that I usually visited for two weeks in the summers of those years.I was 14 and 15 years old during the fair and visited it about 4 or 5 times each summer.I had a lot of paper from the fair that unfortunately got lost over a period of time.I am sure I will never see anything like it again.

The kids from my neighborhood would ride our bikes over to Fernwood on occassion where we would play hardball. I remember an old willow tree that you could climb up over there. Good memories of that place. Sorry for the non-railroad nostalgia but to keep it in the railroad "game", I recall the Chicago & Western Indiana had a wood cupola caboose that they used on their way freight. It had a marker light on top of the cupola. Now I realize that it was probably an ex-EJ&E caboose, of the type at the Sierra and one or two other places. We had to cross the C&WI (C&EI) to get to Fernwood Park.
