Friday, May 10th

On Friday, May 10th, Al Johnson continued coating the 701's roof.


Saturday, May 11th

On Saturday May 11th, the annual rules class was held in Phoenicia, with about 2 dozen volunteers attending.

George Peck and Art Vogel worked at Rock Cut replacing rail there.


Sunday, May 12th

George Peck continued working on rail replacement at Rock Cut.

In Kingston, volunteers continued with the cleanup and reorganization of Cornell St. Yard. Later in the day, approximately 25 ties were marked for changeout as far west as Fair St. (MP 4). Litter was cleaned from the ROW under Elmendorf and Albany Ave. Working today were Ed Mead, Jan Harrison, and Mark Glaser.


Monday, May 13th

On Monday, a track crew inserted and plated 15 additional ties on the tangent behind Herzog's at Kingston Plaza. Shoulder reinforcement on the north side of the track both here and at the far west end of the Plaza parking area was completed. East of the O&W switch, brush clearing and smoothing on both sides of the line was begun as well as regrading fill at the east end of the siding. Late afternoon, crews returned to the yard to begin repairs on the 110 B tampers front axle. Participating today were: Al Schoessow, Steve Gollow, Alex Sorenson, Ron Epstein, and Mark Glaser

We will also have a crew doing cleanup of Mt. Tremper station, the train, and the surrounding area getting it ready for opening day next week starting at 10am at Mt. Tremper.

Saturday, May 18th

On Saturday, George Peck, Jarrett May, Neil Remsen, and Art Vogel completed installation of new rail at Rock Cut.

Al Johnson and Gary Lowe completed painting the roof of the 701, and George Bain cleaned up the station area at Mt. Tremper along with John Pickett.

In Kingston on Saturday, track crews tamped and fully spiked 15 additional ties inserted last weekend on the tangent adjacent to Herzog's. Later in the day, at Cornell St., north stockrail ties on the new west yard switch were jacked and spiked completing the project. Crew included Al Schoessow, Ron Epstein, Freddie Rasmussen, and Mark Glaser.

Sunday, May 19th

On Sunday, East end activity included bolt work west of Washington Avenue, and grading / clearing of the north shoulder east/ west of the O&W switch. At Westbrook Station, crews worked into the evening performing maintenance and hardware upgrades to the loading platform. The area around the base was graded, contoured and seeded as well as a large area immediately west of the ticket booth on the north side. The station area and track from Westbrook Lane east was string trimmed. At Cornell Street, work began on the MOW pickup truck. Participating were; Al Schoessow, Steve Gollow, Earl Pardini, Ernie Klopping, and Mark Glaser.

George Peck worked at Longyear Siding.


Monday, May 20th

Monday, Crews reopened the Fair St. crossing to MOW eqpt. where asphalt up- heaving occured on the west side. The surface was repaired w/cold patch as needed. 9 ties were inserted and spiked west of Fair St. and cribs for five opened east of the O&W switch. Track crews string trimmed in/out gauge from Wash. Ave. east to the switch, grading/clearing of the shoulder on the north side of the ROW was completed to Wash. Ave. In the Albany Ave. cut, brush was pushed back on the north/south side. Working today: Al Schoessow, Tony Bochinno, George Peck, Frank Libihoul, Ed Winstanley, Steve Gollow, Ron Epstein, and Mark Glaser.

Friday, May 24th

Al Schoessow and Mark Glaser will lead a crew this Friday finishing tie work east of the O&W switch. Meet Cornell St. 8 am-later arrivals go directly to work site.


Saturday, May 25th

OPENING DAY!!!!

On Saturday in Kingston track crews will be supporting the train crews on opening day.

In Mt. Tremper, George Peck plans to support the train crews through the first run, then switch to Phoenicia where they will move the flat car to the Phoenicia Station so restoration work can begin.

Sunday, May 26th

George Peck plans to continue work in Phoenicia yard starting around 10am.

Thursday, May 23rd

On Thursday Earl Pardini and Al Schoessow inserted 6 ties east of the O&W switch. Bolt work on the tangent adjacent to the Kingston Plaza was also performed.


Friday, May 24th

On Friday a track crew inserted 4 additional ties several rail lengths east of the O&W switch and fully spiked 10. Two switch ties were replaced immediately east of the frog on the O&W switch. Participating were Al Schoessow, Edwin Winstanley, Steve Gollow, Frank Libihoul and Mark Glaser.


Saturday, May 25th

In Mt. Tremper, Conductor was Ray Farrell, Engineer was Walt Otto, Brakeman was Bill Kaba, Neil Isabelle was car attendant, and Ticket Agent was George Bain.

In Phoenicia, George Peck, Neil Remsen and Dave Heick began cleanup in the Phoenicia yard.


Monday, May 27th

In Mt. Tremper, Conductor was Dan Howard, Engineer was John Watson, Brakeman was Ed Winstanley, and Ticket Agent was Peter Fluchere.

In Kingston, Conductor was Walt Otto, Engineer was Earl Pardini, Brakeman was Mark Glaser, Flagger was Thom Johnson, Car Attendant was George Bain, and Ticket Agent was Pat Smalley.

In Phoenicia, George Peck, Neil Remsen and Dave Heick continued cleanup in the Phoenicia yard.

In Kingston, the former NY&A coach was moved from the CSX siding at Greenkill Ave. to CMRR's Cornell St. Yard. The car is presently resting on it's rail trucks on the east end, and a rubber tired moving dolly on the west. Participating were: Earl Pardini, Ron Epstein, Dave Hilliard, John Prestopino, John Patane Sr., John Patane, Raphael Demeglio, Jim Bruck, Alex Sorenson and Mark Glaser.

Thursday, June 6th

The final truck was placed under coach 2940 and it was taken on a test run to the Westbrook Lane station and back. Participating today were Earl Pardini, Al Schoessow, Raphael and Michael DeMeglio, and John Prestopino.

In Phoenica, Art Vogel, Neil Remsen, Jarrett May, Bill Lohrer contined working on restoring track in the Phoenicia yard. Al Johnson worked on cleaning the bearings in flat 35111.

In Kingston today, the CMRR ran another event train featuring lollipops and balloons for younger riders. Today's crew; Earl Pardini, engineer, Al Schoessow, conductor, Ron Epstein, Alex Sorenson, and Karin Vogel, car attendants, I was a flagger, and Mark Glaser was brakeman.

Later in the day crews returned to Cornell St. Yard offloading the side dump into a container provided to support the CMRR's participation in Kingston's Operation Clean Sweep. A general yard cleanup was also undertaken.

Sunday, June 9th

In Mt. Tremper, Al Schoessow was engineer, John Prestopino was Conductor, and Dan Howard was brakeman. Peter Fluchere was ticket agent.

In Phoenicia, Neil Remsen continued equipment repairs, helped by George Peck.

In Kingston on Sunday, a track crew including Bob Blake, Ron Epstein, and Mark Glaser finshed clearing tie remnants from the Kingston Plaza tangent. Debris which had been illegally dumped on the ROW west of Chandler Dr. was also cleared. Machine tamping of marked intervals behind Herzog's was begun. At Westbrook Ln. Station repairs to a broken underground water line were completed. At Cornell St., Ernie Klopping continued repairs on the MOW pickup.
