Friday, March 29th John Patane, George Bain and Steve Gollow worked at Cornell Street Friday. They secured the storage siding for the main, switched out the train so the side dump is east out, cleaned the bank along the Wonderly's building ( tie cart, brush, OTM, ext.), cleaned brush, graded, and started to place the remaining bridge timbers and blocks west of the tie pile and excavated and graded the relocation of the east end of the storage siding. Saturday, March 30th In Kingston, crews worked to reopen the Westbrook Lane, Fair St., and Washington Avenue crossings removing asphalt and other debris obstructing the flange ways as the scarifier was moved west. In the afternoon, west of C-9, the track was inspected to Rte. 209 noting winter damage, and a backhoe was used to clear brush at several locations to open work space for track crews. The car mover's compressor was repaired for later use with the pneumatic spike hammer. Track workers inserted eight ties fully under the rail, seven partially, and spiked four. Participating today were; Steve Gollow, Dick Wilhelm, George Bain, Raphael Demeglio, Peter Fluchere, and Mark Glaser. At Andrew's Lane, George Peck led a crew consisting of Art Vogel and Dave Heick. They restarted all equipment that had been in storage, and spread ballast over the new siding. They also installed permanent comp bars for the new siding at Longyear's. I'll confess, I don't always follow this, partially because I live a good ways off in West Virginia, but let me tip the hat to you for the slow work you've done for years and years--"brick by boring brick"--against all sorts of odds, including some people who are rather hostile to you: http://www.woodstockx.com/2013/03/31/ra ... ail-trail/ http://www.dailyfreeman.com/articles/20 ... 395557.txt http://www.woodstockx.com/2013/03/04/letters-228-36/ http://www.dailyfreeman.com/articles/20 ... 664898.txt http://www.catskillmtrailroad.com/ How do you go on holding those guys at bay? |
