In 1975 Extra 2200 South had a two-part GE 44 Ton roster by Allen Copeland and Dan Dover. In 1975 the newest 44 tonners were not even 20 years old. Have there been attempts at updating this roster, or creating a new one. (When I look at the X2200S rosters created before home PC relational data bases became common place, I am amazed at the work involved.)

There is a GE 44 Ton roster here:

http://www.thedieselshop.us/GE_44Ton.HTML

It was updated in 2010. However, I can make one change is D&M #10 (ex-M&STL D-742) now is on Southern Michigan Railroad, and is in the line to be restored to full operation.

I was the facilitator for D&M #10's move. It fits the SMR's collection, they love critters and GE 44s, and they have a use for the locomotive.

Sacramento Northern 145 has been scrapped by an Ohio parts dealer. Parts from 145 were saved and are slowly finding their way onto SN 146. http://trainzforums.com/index.php?topic=4211.0 Diesels are not a focus for WRM, but their shop is highly capable and there is a group of volunteers who is taking good care of the unit.

Is there an updated survivors list out there?

My 'canary in the mineshaft' for a roster test is to see if the Stewartstown #10 shows up, which was C&PA D-1 from the records I have. That is one of the more museum-piece units I've ever personally looked at.

Midland Railroad in Baldwin, KS had one of the ex-ATSF units but it doesn't show on their web page....it was a derelict.

This appears to be the last 'roll call' posting done on RYPN in 2008:

Stewartstown Railroad GE 44-T #10 is alive and well, just awaiting a new set of batteries.

Does anybody know how to send corrections for these rosters? SN 146 was traded to the Western Railway Museum (Rio Vista Junction) at least 5 years ago and is on a slow mechanical and cosmetic restoration path to its original appearance.

I know for a fact that SRNJ scrapped their 410, which was originally either a Dansville and Mount Morris or Bath and Hammondsport unit. I forget who it was built for, but it had been on both lines before it went to the Bay Colony. The engine was never advertised for sale, unfortunately, and I think I could have found a local buyer for it.

I'm not sure if the recently restored (2008?) O&W engine, 105, is still around, either, and have no recent information on the other former Bay Colony engine, 412, which was a former US Air Force drop-cab engine.

Former Aroostook Valley 44 ton engines #10 and 12 exist today at the Passumpsic Railroad Museum south of St. Johnsbury, Vt. Both need a lot of work, 12 operated on one engine 5 years ago, 10 is in the best condition with 2 good engines. Another 44 ton engine is present with only one hood and engine, it's either B&M or Maine Central 16 or 116.
Interestingly the AV engines have MU, but there are no traction motor blowers. The fans are on the motor armatures, so there is little to no blower air when pulling hard at a slow speed.

44 ton GEs never had traction motor blowers, at least as built. That was one of their weaknesses. (Same for EMD's SW-1, BTW). A friend of mine, some years ago, found out the hard way that you shouldn't power brake with a 44T; the 733 TMs didn't like it very much.

The former ATSF 460 is still there. It has been out of service for a number of years. We had a change in mechanical personnel during the start of repairs to the locomotive. While progress is slow, we are making strides to return the locomotive to service with eventual hopes of repaiting to period Santa Fe colors.
