Does anyone out there know of a source that would have the dates that specific AT&SF steam locomotives were retired?

I am trying to track down when 2-8-0 #810 and 4-4-2 #1446 bit the dust.

Thanks

I believe these dates are in the book "Iron Horses of the Santa Fe Trail" by Worley. I would start there.

All 2-8-0's were scraped by 1954 , and all 4-4-2's were gone by 1953 , according to the book , Santa Fe Steel Rails Through California by Donald Duke & Stan Kistler.

Of the 2-8-0's in the 789 class (engines 789-823), all were gone by 1954, except number 811 was preserved.

No AT&SF 4-4-2's survived.

From Iron Horses of the Santa Fe Trail by E. D. Worly:

810 blt 1902 BLW c/n 19953 scrapped Richmond 12-28-48

1446 blt 1907 BLW c/n 30815 scrapped Shopton 9-1-44

Thank you all.

810's main drive wheel set and 1446's oil burning controls still exist on 811, on display in Atchison KS. I was trying to figure out when 811 might have acquired these parts.

As far as ATSF 2-8-0 types, didn't a NM outfit called Albuquerque & Cerrilos Coal buy a pair of them? I think that they operated into the late 50's and survived.

I believe that one of them was 769.

One of the 2-8-0s is now on display as part of a railroad exhibit in the Santa Fe Springs (Calif.) Heritage Park. This is ATSF #870.
