I've heard of advance reservations, but...from your keyboard to God's ear that there'll be MRSR photo charters then! (I know it's a typo, just one that really made me smile because of the happy implications.)

All part of Stathi's plan for LONG TERM preservation..

Coincidentally, there's also one scheduled for 8/24/2013 should you not wish to wait 90 years.

I wish I could blame that on not having my reading glasses when I need them, but they don't work on my fingers! Thanks, Bob, for making the correction for me.

Long term yes! That is REAL historic preservation!!! God willing, that will happen, just maybe the artistic directors might be different! ;)

It figures that I'll be out of town on the 24th. Maybe I'll try and make it out to Mineral sometime before the end of the season. Haven't been up there in 4 years already, so I've got the Chiggen and #70 to see.

However, I could just jump in the nearest DeLorean and go see the steam freight on the date listed!

Just for fun, here's a picture of #70 double heading with Weyerhaeuser #6 in 1972: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=615363 (Greg Smith photo)

I've been informed that we still have a few spots available on this charter. It's being limited to a small group, so I thought it would sell out.

In hopes of inspiring anyone who's still considering signing up, here's a few shots from other recent photo charters to give you an idea of what you'll find.

This one is from Martin Hansen's charter a couple years ago.

Sanding her out for the fans. (We try and run nice clean stacks, but one group kept grumbling about wanting "more smoke", so finally the crew said "OK, you want smoke? You got it!")

Last but not least, where else can you get a photo like this?!?

All of these photos are taken on the portion of the line that will be used for the photo charter. #70 will be used, along with one other steam loco, so not all of the locos shown will be hot. However, they give you a good idea of the locations and possibilities.

(Disclaimer, I do not know what work train consist Stathi has come up with, nor am I 100% sure the caboose will be in the consist, but I 'm pretty sure it will be used to haul the photogs. As always, equipment, routes and schedules subject to change...)

Man, this is killing me as I'd already committed to another event for that day, several months ago, darn it.
