Post subject:  Puffing Billy Railway 1953

"The last train ever to run between Upper Ferntree Gully and Gembrook ran sixty years ago today. Some time in the two or three days following 3 August 1953 the landslide occurred that led to the closure of the railway.

Then followed a frenzy of activity in newspapers and elsewhere which eventually led to the establishment of the PBPS.

The attached newspaper clipping is from that time, 60 years ago this weekend.
