$6,000 shouldn't take too long. Good looking locomotive.

UTICA, NY - The locomotive by the former Children's Museum in Bagg’s Square is on the move.

Crews prepared the vintage train for transport Wednesday morning, through the afternoon.

Tracks were laid to move the locomotive and adjoining car from its longtime home outside of Union Station to a rig which will transport it to Remsen.

In the summer of 2019, the Utica/Mohawk Valley chapter of the National Railway Historical Society estimated the cost to move the locomotive would be between $50,000-$60,000.

The Children's Museum is in the process of moving to a new location on Utica’s Memorial Parkway.

By the time I heard about it, it was already done! Congratulations to you all for a job well ... and quickly! ... done, and more congratulations when it arrives and is safe.

Additional thanks to the people providing the equipment for the move.

Next step: Mohawk, Adirondack & Northern will deliver to Remsen Depot, 21 miles north of Utica, probably by year's end.

The ATSF dining car and PRR caboose have recently been moved to Remsen NY's Depot. They join Adirondack 25, an RSC-2, which was moved to Remsen late December 2020. All Utica & Mohawk Valley NRHS equipment has now been removed from Utica's Children's Museum.

This video offers views of Adirondack 25, the diner and caboose at the Depot. A Mohawk, Adirondack & Northern freight is also featured passing through Remsen on June 2nd.
