Those photos were from the Foundation Volunteer Work Detail on Saturday the 16th. of August. The boiler jacket was removed, Both Sand Domes, and the Steam Dome cover removed, some of the rods got cleaned, and a Father & Son team even cleaned out the Coal Bunker and Stoker Trough........ A lot of work got done in a short amount of time.

Domes sitting on the lumber from under the boiler jacket material.

I'm looking at Ye Olde Enjine's photo, and I can't help but think of the photos I've seen at Lima and Baldwin, not to mention shots in places like Huntington, how this recreates the feel of then. . .

I still have to think, though, with the diesels, the passenger cars, the freight cars, two steam engines of their own (neither of which is small), plus a 2-6-0 and the boiler of a 2-8-0 there for contract work, that the WM could use a bigger shop. . .

They do have a second shop but the floor has yet to be poured in it. Work on Business Car #204 is currently being done in Shop #2....... I also believe the #7 was painted in the new shop recently.

The 2-6-0 and the 2-8-0 are owned by the Everett Railroad. They are both slowly being rebuild to run on excursions on the Everett. I think that I heard that the 2-6-0 would be done first (no completion date set though) and then the 2-8-0. Work is slow, but the Everett still wants is done. Hope this helps. Please correct me if am wrong!

So friction bearings on the drivers or rollers as claimed in written specs?

That's correct as far as I know.

http://www.everettrailroad.com/railfans ... oster.aspx

The 2-6-0 is former Bath & Hammondsport No. 11, which looks a little strange broadside, with a long space between the cylinders and the first driving axle. She looks like she should be a 4-6-0, except that she's so small! Compared with other locomotives in Ridgeley, she almost looks like she could run in a back yard, and she's standard gauge! She's said to have been built as a stock engine for export, but stayed home.

The 2-8-0 boiler is from Huntington & Broad Top 38, which ran out of Gettysburg for a while, and was in New York before that. She spent some time on the Knox & Kane, too.

Speak of the devil! Just found these on the WMSR Foundation page, apparently in the new shop building--pix of No. 11's tender:

And it's not just rolling equipment:

"Thank you to Maryland Midland for donating 4 Western Maryland Railway signals to the WMSR Foundation for use on our line during special events and photo charters! More photos coming soon."

A comment from the site administrator in reply to a question about 1309's overall condition: "Actually, we have found her in pretty good shape. She only operated for 7 years."

Note the conventional bearings on the drivers, which answers a question previously raised in this thread.

My apologies... This picture got selected by accident. The only way to remove it is to delete the entire post and I hate to do that it will disrupt the shares that have already taken place. These wheels are the wheels from the Everett Railroad #11. Again my apologies for the confusion! :)

Thank you to everyone for your continued support and excitement for our project. We cant wait to see her running again! Jody Shaw WMSR Foundation Coordinator

So, does 1309 have roller bearings or not?
