Having a hard time finding info on the current status of the Buffalo Creek and Gauley RR. It seems it is owned by the individual who owned it during its last stint as a freight carrier. It was apparently leased to the Buffalo Creek and Gauley Co-Op in 2005 and they had a small diesel and some cabooses on site. They also were building a campground on the former BC&G shops site. The last news I could find was this at http://www.buffalocreekandgauley.com/HI ... ative.html :

Quote:
DECEMBER 2011 UPDATE

According to President Jerrold Murphy, CAEZ has cancelled their partnership with the Co-op, but the Co-op continues to operate the campground as a primitive camping facility as the sewer system has not been installed. At the present time, no further work is being done on the lodge at the campground. The track continues to deteriorate and as the purchase of the track from Bill Bright Enterprises has not come to completion, the Co-op has sold the locomotive and cabooses. At the present time the Co-op is studying the best course to maintain the viability of the Co-op.

CAEZ = Central Appalachia Empowerment Zone of West Virginia from whom they lase the shops site/campground. The RR is owned by Bill Bright.

the Co-Op's glog site has not been updated since 2009: http://bcandgcoop.blogspot.com/
Or an even older Blog page:

Just wondering if anyone has more current info or can clarify the situation with this line's status.

I was wondering as well inasmuch as I gave up on finding any updates on their website. At one point it looked like there was steady progress occurring which was fairly fascinating to follow and then suddenly this project seemed frozen in time. What happened is a sort of mystery that is up in the air. This lack of information is even more puzzling considering that the road much like the EBT was one of the last stands of steam.
