I didn't want to hijack the original thread, but this engine came up on a recent thread involving US locomotives sent to Korea. Thanks so much for bringing this particular one up. I was not aware of the one additional Mike that was later added to the order. Pity that these machines operated on a part of the Frisco where there just wasn't a lot or recording on film. If ever a freight engine said kick ass, this class was it. I do wonder about the t.e. rating as it is only a little above the 4100 class Mikes that had the same size drivers and cylinders, but 210 lbs vs. the 235 on the 4200s. I consider myself blessed to have a pair of plates off of Frisco engines, 56137 of off 1500 and 61290 off of one of the 4200s ( can't recall the number from memory, 4210 or 4211 maybe). |

Tom-- I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I thought I'd point out that the "Frisco 4220" is one example of this forum's famous April Fools Jokes. That's pretty good, a year and a half later and it's still snaring one every now and then. Sorry Tom. I've yet to see a really good action shot of one of them. |
