Is the new boiler to be fabricated off the old one, or is it ready to be placed? |

A new boiler is to be fabricated. I can't tell you how many hours have been spent in measuring, checking, double checking, comparing and head scratching. We have been blessed/cursed by being able to obtain a nearly full set of prints through the Lake States Historical Society. Comparing the prints to the actual parts has shown the boilermaker's artistry of taking a blueprint and making it work anyway. The prints & measurements are being compared, contrasted & combined into a 3-D model. That model can then be checked for compliance/clearance and it will then be checked again by independent, knowledgeable people before being committed to steel. mld |

With it free of the boiler, the running gear is now accessible for rebuild. Info & hopefully photos will be posted when available. mld |
