Is the new boiler to be fabricated off the old one, or is it ready to be placed?

A new boiler is to be fabricated. I can't tell you how many hours have been spent in measuring, checking, double checking, comparing and head scratching. We have been blessed/cursed by being able to obtain a nearly full set of prints through the Lake States Historical Society. Comparing the prints to the actual parts has shown the boilermaker's artistry of taking a blueprint and making it work anyway. The prints & measurements are being compared, contrasted & combined into a 3-D model. That model can then be checked for compliance/clearance and it will then be checked again by independent, knowledgeable people before being committed to steel.

With it free of the boiler, the running gear is now accessible for rebuild. Info & hopefully photos will be posted when available.
