For the third year the Nevada Northern Railway Museum is offering a special Steam, Steel, and Strobes Scholarship for two participants, ages 18-30, to attend our annual Winter Steam Spectacular Photo Shoots. The photographers selected will each receive free admittance to the event, a $500 stipend for travel expenses, and will work with professional photographer, Steve Crise, (http://www.scrise.com) during the February 2014 event.
To apply, e-mail a proposal of no more than 250 words and three low-resolution images to Mark S. Bassett, firstname.lastname@example.org. Entries must be received by December 7, 2013 by 5:00 pm. To see photos from previous photo shoot participants, visit http://www.railpictures.net.
We are making this opportunity available to encourage young adults to participate in an outstanding heritage railroading activity. The scholarship includes attendance at the annual photo shoot and $500 that can be used for travel to Ely. Steve Crise, a professional photographer, will mentor the winner.
The Winter Steam Spectacular Photo Shoots are limited to just 30 persons per 2.5 day session, at a cost of $450 per person ($395 members). The first session is almost sold out.
The photo shoots offer a unique way to record and preserve the history of this National Historic Landmark, and be mentored by a professional photographer. Many award-winning shots come out of these sessions. Details are available at http://www.nnry.com.
