A recent photo came through on railpictures.net of her restoration.

Maybe it won't work out. But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure ever.

Actually it's Morehead and North Fork #14.

Ownership went:
1. Union Railroad #77
2. Morehead and North Fork (Renumbered to #14)
3. Tombstone Junction Amusemeunt Park (Renumbered BACK to #77)
4. K&T Railway (Re-renumbered to #14 ironically because it's the next number on the K&T steam roster)

Hopefully she'll be under power in the year 2014. The boiler is nearly complete and will soon be remarried back to the frame and she'll get reassembled.

Here she is back in her Tombstone Junction Days:

Ex Union Railroad! She would have no doubt handled hot metal trains out of Carrie Furnaces, and probably coupled up to the Kling hot metal car we have in Youngstown.

Actually, the next number on the K&T roster would have been 13, but if the K&T had actually purchased an engine after their 12 (ex-Southern 2-8-2 #4501), they very probably would have skipped the "unlucky 13" as many short line railroads did.

When the engine was in service for the M&NF, the railroad never replaced the round 77 number plate that was on the engine, but just painted 14 over its raised numbers. Is that the number plate that will be on the engine when she becomes K&T 14?

Great to see it coming along, will it be ready in 2014? And is that the Steve Lee of UP or somebody else?

Will the 14 be painted green?

I hope not or maybe it is a new trend to paint 0-6-0's green. Ha ha ha

I was the one to prompt the decision of #14 vs #77. At the same time, the roadname was to be K&T, not BSFSRY. All in an effort to preserve and promote the history of the railroad. The current passenger cars are lettered K&T as well.

As stated above, 14 was a more logical choice than 77. Also, the engine already had it's #14 from M&NF history, which is also Kentucky history, so the choice seemed clear.

The original #77 numberplate is in the posession of BSFSRY, but is broken. I don't know what the plans are for replacement. I will speculate that it will get a new #14 plate? Maybe Mr. Rimmasch will comment.

Almost looks like a Tyco or Varney green. Very awesome looking! Regards, John.
