Proof you can have rail with a trail! Who would have ever thought that was possible? (PRR Panhandle Newark Ohio east, Western Maryland Scenic, etc.) I couldn't resist the sarcasm.

What's most amazing is how much of this material is from Rails To Trails. I can't help but think something else is going on in New York and some other places for the trail people to be so antagonistic to the railroads that are there. Either that, or there are some people who just plain hate trains.

And, courtesy of Andrew Dawson, at "Next Stop Tupper Lake!" (Adirondack Scenic Railroad Facebook site), some other examples of rails with trails, some on what were apparently single track railroads. That's strange--the Adirondack trail people say trails have never been built with a railroad unless it was a former double track line. . .

In addition to preserving four miles of track, restoring one mile of track, and sharing 6/10ths of that mile with a "rail trail," the Hoosac Valley Project will also include this multi-use railroad themed depot:
