It is my understanding that while Thomas was banking the bucks for TVRM this past weekend that the shop was sealed up and painters were hard at work. Any chance there may be some pictures itching to get out?

I think we should consider it Schrodinger's locomotive- until photos are posted, it can be thought of as both green and black. :-)

At this point I'd almost bet my best hat that she's coming out green.

I love reading these conspiracy theories...

TVRM doesn't give shop tours during our Day Out with Thomas event. The last day of Thomas is May 10th. When no one is in the shop, the doors are closed to minimize exposure to potential lawsuits.

I am waiting to see how long before this thread is also relegated to the railfanning section with the other 4501 threads.

I can't wait for it to come out of the shops so the "what color will it be" question can go away...

I want it painted in the same colors as the 1957 Lionel set. Having matching freight cars would even be better. I realize the only things important are paint colors and how many pictures one can take. With 4501 painted just like the set it would certainly cause a lot of conversation.
My apologies to TVRM

It will be quickly replaced "HOW DARE THEY NOT PAINT 4501 IN GREEN/BLACK!" rants and moaning.

Mark,

To those who believe in such things, absense of evidence of a conspiracy IS evidence that the conspiracy exists.

Yeah, the color thing again. I posted on another group that, to make everyone happy, paint one side, such as the engineer's side green and the fireman's side black. You can only see one side at a time anyway! Smokebox one color as the pilot.

Whatever color it is I think depends on the decal sets they were able to find for it.

For my part, I'll be happy to see her out, no matter what her color.

That said, I finally read Mark's outstanding article in Trains, and it left me with a question: was length added to the smoke box to accommodate the heater, or was material removed from the sides to maintain the original profile?
