For railroad employees; wonder if anyone would recognize some of the people in the film today?

The way the railroaders are dressed is also a bit interesting. Besides the fashions of the day, including a lot of fedoras and other hats (and the lack of hard hats and other safety gear required today), it's surprising that many of the employees don't seem to be heavily dressed for cold--i.e., relatively light looking coats, sometimes no gloves. Of course, we don't see the long underwear they might be wearing, and working the way they did would warm up a body pretty good.

The Sierras aren't "cold". Lots of snow, but strong sun, and bring your sun block!

Girls in bikinis skiing aren't inconceivable.
