Post subject:  Wanted: 3.5" Tube

I'm looking for 3-4 lengths of 3.5" boiler tube with a .180 minimum wall in SA-178 Gr.A, or SA-192, with material test reports. Does anyone know of a source that doesn't require a mill run? Many Thanks.

Could you use NPS 3" X standard wall (.214"), SA-106-B seamless pipe? It has a higher allowable stress of 15.6ksi at 700° F than SA-178-A which is 12.4ksi at 700° F.

Just a thought.

As of 3 months ago 3.5 tube is readily available. Anderson Tube and Boiler Tube Company of America are both sources. I am curious as to the current difficulty in finding such material.

Cheers, Jason

SA-106B won't meet code, .214 is too thick. Yes Jason, BTA (Now part of Babcock Power), and Anderson both have 3.5" but not in .180 wall. You can get all the .120 wall you want, but unfortunately that is too thin for our calculations. Thanks for trying though.
