This turned up on my Facebook page; besides being cool in its own right, and of interest to military veterans and historians here, it's also an example of how art helps tell a story, sometimes a grim one, but one that needs to be told and remembered.

These photos have been all over the net lately. Nothing new if you're into all that.
The sad thing is there is no museum dedicated to the US Army, like there is for the USMC and the USMC (the Navy techincally has one, at the Washington Navy Yard, but some would argue they need one as well). The Army has big on having museums dedicated to specific bases and branches of the Army instead until recently.
I have already donated money to the new museum, but I don't think they're anywhere near close to getting it built.
I'd love more than anything to see the Army art collection finally get a place where it can be exhibited. A lot of that WW2 stuff hasn't been seen by the public since the late 1940s, and a great deal of the work in the captured German WW2 art collection hasn't seen the light of day since the Third Reich was still in operation...
If you have any interest in the subject, this is a good publication: http://www.history.army.mil/html/books/epubs/art_of_the_american_soldier/army_of_am_soldier.pdf
